505 Games and Rabbit & Bear Studios have announced that action RPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is set to release during the Spring of 2022. The release window announcement came via 505 Games’ Tokyo Game Show presentation, with the latter half of the presentation focusing solely on updates for Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, with commentary from its core development staff. Specifically, a new trailer and a first-look gameplay sequence of Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising were the centrepieces of the presentation, seen below at timestamp 34:52 and 48:13 respectively.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is intended as an interstitial spin-off title to launch before the Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes release window of 2023. The scenario writer is Tadashi Satomi, known for his work on Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Rising follows the trio of JB, Garoo, and Isha as they journey across the continent, finding treasure and resources in side-scrolling environments, replete with real-time battles against ferocious foes. Once the treasure has been secured and brought back to their town, the gameplay shifts into a town-building simulator where Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will thread a narrative of conspiracy with its core cast, introducing players to seven of the heroes from Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and the trials they will undergo to protect their home acting.

The developers recommend that players play Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising as a precursor to the events of Hundred Heroes, promising minor gameplay benefits to Hundred Heroes if layers link both games together.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising will release in Spring 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC systems, via Steam. Stay tuned to RPGFan for all news RPG!

It bears mentioning that Tadashi Satomi is also the namesake of the best Persona music of all, the Satomi Tadashi pharmacy theme from Persona 1, P2 IS, and P2 EP.
