Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase Tease New Projects for Final Fantasy VII’s 25th Anniversary

Final Fantasy VII, one of the most legendary and infuential JRPGs ever made, is turning 25 years old in 2022. To mark the occasion, Square Enix has shared some remarks from Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase, two developers with important ties to both the original title and, of course, the recently released Final Fantasy VII Remake. In their message, the duo tease new developments and projects related to the Final Fantasy VII brand, and comment on the game’s legacy.

Message From Yoshinori Kitase And Tetsuya Nomura Teasing New Final Fantasy VII Projects

It’s no surprise at all that Square Enix would want to expand on VII‘s brand, given the game’s storied history and the largely positive reception to Remake. Some ongoing or in-the-works titles we know about include Ever Crisis, a mobile recap of the entire Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, as well as The First Soldier, a battle royale title in the vein of Fortnite.
