Final Fantasy XIV is set to receive a wealth of new content in its first major update since the release of the critically acclaimed Endwalker expansion back in December of last year!
New Content and Updates To Be Introduced in Patch 6.1: Newfound Adventures
In a recent Square Enix Final Fantasy XIV broadcast, the game’s Producer and Director, Naoki Yoshida, revealed information regarding the vast array of new content fans can look forward to following the release of patch 6.1, coming in mid April.
The content coming with patch 6.1 is as followed:
- New Main Scenario Quests – A new chapter for the Warrior of Light awaits!
- “Tataru’s Grand Endeavour” – A new side quest series spotlighting Tataru; the quest will begin with patch 6.1 and run until 6.5.
- New Role Quests – Additional story content will become available following the completion of all Endwalker Role Quests.
- PVP Updates – There will be updates to PVP action combat as well as the implementation of a new rewards system. Additional PVP content known as Crystalline Conflict will also be featured in the patch.
- New Housing Area – Housing Plots in Empyreum, the long-awaited new Ishgardian residential district, will be made available for purchase.
- The Unending Codex – A new glossary of characters and terms up through patch 6.0 can now be unlocked.
- New Dungeon – More information to be revealed at a future date.
- New Trial – The Endsinger’s Aria will be made available to players following patch 6.1.
- New Unreal Trial – Ultima’s Bane (Unreal).
- New Alliance Raid – Myths of the Realm #1, a brand new 24 player raid.
- Additional Updates – Job adjustments, Endwalker New Game+, new hairstyles and glamour plates as well as the ability to try on items from the online store.
The broadcast also revealed further revisions to the main scenario content in A Realm Reborn. These revisions include a new Duty Support System based on the existing Trust system. This new system will mean that all 4-player main scenario dungeons and trials can now be completed with NPCs. In the future, the Duty Support System will be expanded to support content from patch 2.x, the Heavensward expansion content, and beyond.
Looking Ahead to Future Patch 6.1x Updates
Yoshida also gave insight into some of the upcoming updates players can expect in future patch 6.1x updates.
These updates include:
- New Ultimate Duty – Dragonsong’s Reprise, a new Ultimate challenge will be released with Patch 6.11.
- Additional Side Story Quests – Various new side quests will be released including “Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures” (Patch 6.15) and “Omega: Beyond the Rift” (sometime in the Patch 6.1x series).
- New Tribe Quests – Players can embark on new Arkasodara tribe quests for Disciples of War and Magic following the release of Patch 6.15.
- New Custom Deliveries – Ameliance Leveilleur Custom Deliveries to be released alongside Patch 6.15.
- Data Center Travel – Planned to release alongside Patch 6.18, players will be able to visit worlds in different logical data centers within the same physical data center.
Its clear than fans of Final Fantasy XIV can expect plenty to do in the coming months with Square Enix continuing to provide an abundance of content to the critically acclaimed MMORPG which is now currently the best selling entry in the Final Fantasy series.
