The Pokémon Company have announced that trainers will soon be able to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Arceus and Darkrai in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

Obtaining Arceus

Trainers looking to catch Arceus must first update their game to version 1.3.0. In order to obtain Arceus, a save file for Pokémon Legends: Arceus must also be present on their Nintendo Switch system. Trainers can then obtain the Azure Flute item, assuming they have achieved the following in-game criteria:

  • Enter the Hall of Fame – achieved by beating the Elite 4
  • Obtained the National Pokédex – Given to the player by Professor Rowan after seeing all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Region

Finally, trainers must head to the entrance of the Spear Pillar. Once there, the Mythical Pokémon Arceus will appear.

In order to catch Darkrai, trainers must first obtain the Members Card item. This item will be given out via the in-game Mystery Gift feature, which will be available between Friday April 1st and Saturday April 30th. Once again, there is some criteria trainers must meet first in order to be able to catch Darkrai:

  • Enter the Hall of Fame – achieved by beating the Elite 4
  • Obtained the National Pokédex – Given to the player by Professor Rowan after seeing all 150 Pokémon in the Sinnoh Region
  • Completed the in-game Cresselia event – Trainers must have tracked down and caught Cresselia

Trainers will then be able to travel to Newmoon Island, where the Mythical Pokémon Darkrai awaits.
