If you have any fondness for point-and-click adventure games, then the name Monkey Island needs no introduction. These humorous PC classics are getting a long-awaited follow-up sometime in 2022, titled Return to Monkey Island, from publisher Devolver Digital and Ron Gilbert’s studio, Terrible Toybox. While there have been other Monkey Island games since (such as Telltale’s series), Return to Monkey Island is a direct followup to The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge.

Original developers Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman are returning as designers and writers, while Dominic Armato returns to voice protagonist Guybrush Threepwood. Michael Land, Peter McConnel, and Clint Bajakian are composing the game’s music. No platforms have been announced at this time, but the game is targeting a 2022 release.
