Kingdom Hearts IV and More Announced During Franchise’s 20th Anniversary Event

Square Enix, alongside Disney, have announced the development of Kingdom Hearts IV! This exiting news was revealed during the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary Event, which took place today. The company have released a video on YouTube that combines all the announcements that took place during the event into one, including the reveal trailer of Kingdom Hearts IV:

As the latest instalment in the series, Kingdom Hearts IV will follow an epic new storyline titled the “Lost Master Arc.” Players will be introduced to the Quadratum, “a large, expansive city set in a gorgeous, realistic world unlike anything ever seen before in the Kingdom Hearts series”. Of course we will see the return of many familiar characters including Sora, Donald and Goofy. Square Enix also revealed that fans should expect new characters to appear, with one such example will being Strelitzia, a mysterious being who will appear before Sora in this strange new city.

New Mobile Title Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link Revealed

Square Enix have also revealed Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a new spin-off title for mobile platforms. In this new title, players will “embark on adventures from the realm of Scala ad Caelum into the real world” (this is an exact quote from the announcement). The game will feature exhilarating battles, as well as a new story for players to discover. Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link will receive a beta test at some point in 2022, on both iOS and Android devices. The beta test will be limited to specific regions, however, no further information has been given at this time.

Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road Finale Hitting in August

Also announced during the presentation was a release window for the long awaited final chapter for Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road, a spin-off mobile game available on iOS and Android platforms. Square Enix revealed that players will be able to experience the finale to the story of Kingdom Hearts Union χ Dark Road for free, in August of 2022.


With the announcement of Kingdom Hearts IV being so fresh, there is currently no information regarding a release window. It’s also unclear which platforms the title will release on.
