Folks, I adore Tron Legacy. The 2010 sequel to the classic original Tron sports a wholly unique visual style and remains an audiovisual treat to this day, thanks in no small part to Joseph Kosinski’s superb direction and Daft Punk’s phenomenal score. So I’m really excited that Disney and Bithell Games have announced Tron Identity, a visual novel set in the Tron universe.

Information about the title is scarce right now, other than the fact that it’s coming to PC via Steam sometime next year. However, we do have a teaser trailer, which you can check out below!

Bithell Games is billing Tron Identity as a puzzle game, interspersed with dialogue-heavy sequences reminiscent of the studio’s other games, such as The Solitaire Conspiracy and Subsurface Circular. Because time moves faster in the world of the Grid than it does in our own, Identity‘s story is set many hundreds of years after the events of Legacy, and the Grid’s digital society has evolved tremendously. Players will control Query, a detective and Disciple of Tron, who is heavily inspired by legends of the characters from the films. Other characters mentioned by the studio are named Ada and Proxy.

“It’s an amazing sci-fi storytelling opportunity which we’ve been able to do thanks to the amazing collaboration with Disney, who have just allowed us to create this story, tell this story in this new world, and expand on this amazing and rich heritage that Tron has,” says Bithell. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Tron Identity, so stay tuned to RPGFan!
