Square Enix has released a free update for Valkyrie Elysium, including new content, higher difficulty options, and an expanded endgame.

The first new addition is “Hilde’s Vengeance”, a new mode featuring the enigmatic Hilde from the main story. You get to play as her as she cuts through her enemies to seek revenge on Odin. She brings a harder-hitting playstyle to the game along with a brand-new skill tree and a variety of Divine Arts.

A pair of new difficulty options have been added for players looking for a challenge. Very Hard mode makes the game tougher and forces you to hone your skills to succeed.  For true Valkyrie Elysium experts, Valkyrie mode ratchets the difficulty up even more.

Lastly, for players that have finished everything else, a new endgame mode called “The Seraphic Gate” has been added. In this mode, players fight waves and waves of enemies in a race against the clock. As you fight more and more, you ascend the floors of the garden. Each floor has new challenges for you to face and changes your loadout, so you’ll have to be adept at every aspect of the game to succeed. This mode becomes available after completing any of the endings in Valkyrie Elysium.

This update was released on November 11th and is already included in the Steam version, which launched last week.
