Welcome to a special Thanksgiving edition of RPGs Coming This Week! There… isn’t much to talk about. It’s a sparse week in terms of games that are relevant to us, partly because Square Enix decided to cram the remainder of their 2022 lineup into the next two weeks. That company is an enigma. Well, let’s just get on with it!

Cats and the Other Lives – November 21st (Windows)

Before everything else, I want to point out that developer Cultic Games plans to set aside some of the proceeds from this game to fund medical operations for street cats. Um, GOTY??

Cats and the Other Lives looks to be a point-and-click adventure about a cat that touches the lives of each member of a sad, estranged group of siblings who convene after the death of their father. It feels like you basically trace their lives, uncovering where it all went wrong. As for how it plays, it kind of reminds me of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Except you’re a cat instead of a disembodied spirit. Wink.

It is literally out now on Steam!

Please Be Happy – November 21st (Windows)

Please Be Happy is a slice-of-life visual novel about a Korean fox girl that travels to a magic version of Wellington, New Zealand, to find a human who showed her kindness while she was a child. Romance ensues when she comes to know two human women during her visit.

My god, what a premise. Everything about this game is breathtakingly cozy, and the girls’ love subplot is bound to melt hearts. Sounds like a relaxing way to cap off a few weeks. It’s 220,000 words long, according to Please Be Happy‘s itch.io page, so you likely won’t be done with this for a while. (Nor should you be!)

You can also find it on Steam.

Folks, I am living for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet glitch videos. Let me share my favorite one so far (kind of NSFW).

I take back every negative thing I’ve ever said about modern Pokémon. This is incredible. More of this, please.
