Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Anniversary Edition

In celebration of the 35th anniversary of the franchise, Square Enix has announced that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters will make their way to PS4 and Nintendo Switch in spring 2023!

Fans will have the option to purchase the titles separately or as a bundle. Physical collectors will be pleased to know that both a “Standard” and “Anniversary Edition” of the collection have also been announced.

Although, the Standard Edition has already sold out…

As noted above, Square Enix has revealed “extremely limited” physical releases of the collection. The “Standard Edition” retails for $74.99 USD, while the “Anniversary Edition” goes for a staggering $254.99 USD! You can still join the waitlist for the Standard Edition, or pre-order the Anniversary Edition on the Square Enix Store.

While it may be expensive, the collection is a lovely tribute to the series’ history and includes the following:

  • Final Fantasy I – VI Collection – a physical collection of all games for either PS4 or Nintendo Switch
  • Anniversary Edition GOODS BOX.
  • A bonus lenticular sleeve for the game package.
  • 2-disc vinyl record set featuring newly arranged game music with exclusive cover artwork by Kazuko Shibuya
  • A specially compiled artbook showcasing beautiful character pixel art.
  • Eight stylized pixel art character figures in window packaging.

All six Pixel Remasters are set to hit PS4 and Nintendo Switch sometime in Spring 2023! It’s been a long wait, but it’s great to see these remastered classics finally come to the consoles.

If you’re looking for reviews before the collection hits new platforms, then RPGFan has you covered. I’ll point you towards my personal favourite of the bunch, Final Fantasy VI, written by Audra Bowling.
