New Patch for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Arriving in February

The protagonist in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet catching a Pokemon.

The Pokémon Company and Nintendo announced that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet‘s next patch will arrive in late February and include “bug fixes and add[ed] functionality.” We don’t have other details yet, but the companies announced that additional information on this “Update Ver. 1.2.0” will follow “soon.”

I’m hopeful this is Nintendo beginning to meet its commitment to improve the games and address their myriad technical issues. Like many others, I’m enjoying Pokémon Scarlet & Violet despite framerate issues, graphical hiccups, and bugs, but the experience is far from polished. The last patch supposedly fixed some bugs, but I didn’t notice any performance improvements since downloading it.

The Pokémon Company also released a new video celebrating the fact that players can catch a whopping 1,008 Pokémon across all series entries! The video highlights every Pokémon they and Nintendo have rolled out. Check it out below!

Hearing and seeing the classic Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games is quite the nostalgia trip. Of course, you can’t catch all 1,008 Pokémon in any one game, but it’s a treat to see how far the series has come.

My fingers are crossed that the series’ next step is an update that sees Nintendo do right by players disappointed with the state of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. For the latest on these games, their upcoming patch, and all things Pokémon, stay tuned to RPGFan!
