Final Fantasy X Kabuki Stage Play to Run in Tokyo

Wakka puts an arm around Tidus's shoulder, ready to offer advice in Final Fantasy X.

Kabuki fans, rejoice: IHI Stage Around Tokyo will host a kabuki stage play of Final Fantasy X this spring! The show will be performed 35 times between March 4th and April 12th. The show has a website where you can grab your tickets! Tickets for half the show start at ¥11,000 JPY, and more premium tickets for the whole show range from ¥19,800 JPY to ¥32,000 JPY.

Renowned kabuki actor Nakamura Yonekichi V will play Yuna. If his sending is any indication (see our tweet below), fans have a lot to look forward to here!

The arrangement’s use of traditional Japanese instruments leaves this show with a markedly Japanese feel, which is a bit different from the Final Fantasy X soundtrack vibe. Yonekichi and this show’s music director have impressive resumes; they both previously worked on the very popular Nausicaa kabuki stage play!

Are you planning to attend the performance? Wishing it would debut in the West? Let us know in the comments!
