The latest Nintendo Direct sure was a treat for Monolith Soft fans! Along with Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster, Nintendo also showcased the next waves of Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘s Expansion Pass! The third wave introduces the new character Masha along with new Challenge Battles to tackle. We also got a peek at the story-focused fourth wave that might interest long-time Xenoblade fans.

Don’t let me stop you! Check out the new trailer below:

The third wave of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 DLC introduces the new hero Masha, a skilled Lapidarist. What’s that, you say? As a lapidarist, Masha can craft accessories and imbue them with many effects.

The DLC also adds Archsage’s Gauntlet, a set of battles described in the Direct as “rogue-like.” You choose one of the game’s main cast as they battle wave after wave of enemies. As you progress through the mode, you are able to add Heroes to your team and learn special abilities. Completing these challenges will net you outfits that nod to past Xenoblade titles.

Speaking of nods to previous games, the fourth wave features returning characters from Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in a new adventure. Players will be able to play it later this year.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3‘s third wave of DLC launches on February 15th. Waves one and two are currently available and you can learn more about them on Nintendo’s website. The base game is available now for Nintendo Switch. Take a look at Zach Wilkerson’s glowing review of the base game to see why we are excited for the Expansion Pass.
