Level-5 has tipped their proverbial top hat with the announcement of Professor Layton and The New World of Steam, revealed worldwide at the latest Nintendo Direct. A bite-sized teaser trailer replete with moving machinery lies below!

A new mystery indeed! Level-5 has confirmed that Professor Layton and The New World of Steam will release exclusively worldwide on Nintendo Switch as of writing, but no formal release date was given. Apart from the above teaser trailer, all that can be seen is that it stars longtime series protagonist Herschel Layton, set to explore a seemingly vast and expansive city.

The Professor Layton series is established as a consistent and beloved puzzle adventure game franchise starring the titular archeologist as he explores and solves the mysteries that abound in the world-spanning locations and the people that occupy them. The last entry in the mainline series, Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy, was released in 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS and iOS and in 2019 for the Switch.

As it stands, I’m always happy to see Professor Layton return and I can’t imagine that I’m the only one who feels that way. When more information is known, you can be sure RPGFan will be there to report it. Stay tuned to us for all news RPG!
