We’re back with another collaborative edition of RPGs Coming This Week, readers! Our newest release slate isn’t quite as packed or high-profile as last week’s, but it’s no less diverse. Let’s get into it!
Street Fighter: Duel – February 28th (iOS, Android)
Street Fighter: Duel is the venerable fighting game series’ first foray into RPG territory! With plenty of characters from throughout Street Fighter history and even interesting-looking newcomers that you can collect to form your ultimate fighting party, Ryu and company will face off against the forces of Shadaloo once more. The gacha elements have me a bit wary, but the SF fan in me is curious to see just how well the franchise and its stages translate to RPG format. The visual presentation alone is quite eye-catching too!
As both a RPG fan and a fighting game fan, I’m intrigued that Street Fighter: Duel even exists, so I’ll definitely be paying attention to the upcoming English-language release. Everyone, say it with me: HADOKEN!

Esperia ~Uprising of the Scarlet Witch~ – March 1st (Windows)
I’m a sucker for a good strategy RPG and twists to Arthurian lore, so Esperia ~Uprising of the Scarlet Witch~ is a title I’ve been rather curious about! This game is an indie SRPG boasting around 20 hours of playtime with a large cast of characters who have unique classes and storylines to follow through, plus bonding mechanics, permadeath on higher difficulty settings, a visual novel-style story presentation, a choice-heavy narrative, and challenging tactical combat. The graphics and art of Esperia look quite gorgeous and polished as well! Diana Pendragon’s quest to clear her name and figure out the truth lurking in her kingdom’s shadows promises to be a very entertaining experience for fans of the tactical RPG subgenre.

Meg’s Monster – March 2nd (XSX, XBO, Switch, Windows, macOS, Linux)
From Odencat, the developer and publisher behind hidden gems like Fishing Paradiso, comes the very cute-looking Meg’s Monster. It is, somewhat unusually, an indie JRPG in the truest sense of the term, as Odencat is a smaller-scale studio that is based in Japan.
Meg’s Monster is a turn-based joint that recalls Undertale a fair bit, down to the premise of a small child stumbling into a realm of monsters. It’s got bright cartoon graphics and a lot of charm, and, if that wasn’t enough, Laura Shigihara of Deltarune fame is involved with the music. You should check out the demo on Steam if you haven’t already.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty – March 3rd (PS5, XSX, PS4, XB1, Windows)
In the list of developers who just keep on truckin’, few truck as consistently and skillfully as Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja. Scarcely a month after the last batch of extra content for Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, we’re getting Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, an action RPG set in a violent, grimdark take on Three Kingdoms-era China. It’s the latest in a string of Soulslikes from the Nioh series creators, and it’s sure to be a fun time.
One thing of note is that you can jump now, so it seems that Team Ninja are definitely keeping up with all the hip FromSoftware gameplay features. I don’t doubt that Wo Long will bring plenty of innovation on its own, though. There’s currently a demo out on all available platforms—PS, Xbox, PC—so hop to it if you can!

2023’s kind of been a crazy year so far, hasn’t it? Right now, I’m deeply embedded in the Bakumatsu intrigue of Like a Dragon: Ishin!, but just two weeks ago I was busy tapping along with Theatrhythm FInal Bar Line. And let’s not even talk about the copy of Octopath Traveler II hanging out on my shelf. Every week feels like it’s bringing someone’s most anticipated game to the table, and that makes my heart full.
Anyway, until next time, readers!
