The Caligula Effect: Overdose Arrives on PS5 Later This Year

The Caligula Effect: Overdose, an enhanced version of the original game with a bevy of enhancements including extra characters and scenarios, is making the cross-generational trip to PlayStation 5 sometime in 2023.

Overdose is by no means new; it’s already been brought to PS4, Switch, and PC systems nearly four years ago. This is the first time we’re seeing it pop up on a current-gen console, though, so I suppose we’re in for a resolution uptick and maybe some frame rate improvements. In any case, here’s the announcement trailer!

Our very own Audra Bowling reviewed The Caligula Effect: Overdose back when it hit the Nintendo Switch in 2019. Audra gave it a 58, bottom-lining with the following: “While it is the strongest version of The Caligula Effect, it is hard to recommend Overdose to anyone but the most hardcore of fans given its flaws.”

I reckon the PS5 version stands a chance at being the strongest version of… the strongest version of… The Caligula Effect, though that may still prove faint praise.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here’s a quick overview from NIS America to catch you up.
