Horizon Forbidden West Sales Exceed 8 Million Units as Dev Teases New Series Entry

Guerilla Games announced that Horizon Forbidden West has sold more than 8.4 million units, with the franchise surpassing 32.7 million units sold! It comes as no surprise then that studio director and studio art and animation director Jan-Bart van Beek teased that “Aloy’s adventures will continue” in a PlayStation Blog post.

We don’t know much about where Aloy will go next, but Guerilla recently confirmed that an online multiplayer Horizon game is in the works, “featuring a new cast of characters and a unique stylized look.” Guerilla also confirmed that it’s working on “Aloy’s next adventure,” in addition to its “exciting online project.” Especially after Forbidden West‘s cliffhanger conclusion, my fingers are crossed that this “next adventure” is a third main Horizon title!

Burning Shores, the DLC for Horizon Forbidden West that released in April, is the last we saw of Aloy. RPGFan’s Caitlin Argyros just reviewed the roughly 10-hour adventure that sees Aloy explore what’s left of Los Angeles, and she got a kick out of its visuals, a new region to explore, and newcomer Seyka. However, her review explained that she was less enamored with Burning Shores‘s underwhelming antagonist, bugs, and limited side content.
