Japanese developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has revealed RGG Summit Summer 2023, an online event to showcase more updates regarding the upcoming Like a Dragon 8 and spin-off title Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name. The live stream will take place on June 15th at 8:00 PM PST / 11:00 PM ET. The official countdown has started and will go live on SEGA’s Southeast Asia YouTube channel.

During last year’s RGG Summit, we learned that LaD 8 would have an early 2024 release window. Similar to the seventh series entry, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the eighth will have turn-based combat. We can also expect to see more of main protagonists from past LaD games, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu.

As for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, the spin-off will feature action combat in line with earlier LaD games (and the Judgment series) and will be relatively shorter than most mainline games.

With Summer Game Fest 2023 rapidly approaching and E3 being canceled, most gaming companies have started teasing and sharing their future plans for what players should expect in the coming months and years. With all the recent major releases, this year has already been incredible, and I personally can’t even keep up anymore. However, it goes without saying that we’ll continue to cover the latest and greatest upcoming RPGs, so stay tuned here at RPGFan!
