On this edition of RPGs Coming This Week: A dark prince and… precious little else. I mean, there’s stuff, but not anything you haven’t seen before. It’s all about slimes this week, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince – December 1st (Switch)

I can’t get over the fact that we just get to play as Psaro from Dragon Quest IV. He’s one of the most compelling characters in series history, so Square Enix deciding to flesh out his backstory in Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is such an excellent idea.

I lead with Psaro talk because I admittedly have a scant history with the DQ Monsters games. You can bet I’ll be jumping into the series with The Dark Prince, though, with its vibrant look and tried-and-true monster-tamer gameplay. The free demo was a lot of fun, too, so I’m sold. Who else started with a platypunk?

Also Coming This Week

Gothic II Complete Classic – November 29th (Switch)

Months after the first game’s Nintendo Switch debut, Piranha Bytes and THQ Nordic are putting out Gothic II Complete Classic. Classic is right, by the way. This open-world RPG is one of the best games to ever come out of Germany.

Arcadian Atlas – November 30th (PS5, XSX, PS4, XB1, Switch)

Arcadian Atlas made waves a few months ago for its strong Final Fantasy Tactics vibes. Based on our review of the original PC release, it’s a great strategy RPG game in its own right. Now, it’s coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.

Biomutant – November 30th (Switch)

Biomutant is finally coming this week to Switch after releasing last year for current-gen PlayStation and Xbox and launching in 2021 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. We liked this furry little action RPG quite a bit when it first went to market.

Black Clover M: Rise of the Wizard King – November 30th (iOS, Android)

The popular anime Black Clover is getting another mobile (iOS/Android) game this week. There’s been quite a few, surprisingly. Pre-registrations are open for Black Clover M: Rise of the Wizard King now.
