Level-5 has announced that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set to release in 2025 for Nintendo Switch. The announcement came by way of the company’s official Vision 2023 II video presentation, showcasing in-development footage of its core puzzle-focused gameplay. Check it out below!

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam – Trailer (LEVEL5 VISION 2023 II Ver.)

As seen above, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam stars both the eponymous Professor Layton alongside his self-proclaimed apprentice Luke as they explore the steam-powered city and communities of Steam Bison, located within a fictionalized America. This entry within the decade-spanning Professor Layton franchise is set one year after Professor Layton and the Unwound Future—a Nintendo DS title released in 2010—and continues the canon of the story of Layton and Luke solving puzzles across a wide and mysterious alternate Earth.

As it stands, it seems as if Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set to fuse its point-and-click adventure gameplay, nuanced puzzles, and affable characters within a stylish world beautifully rendered in the Nintendo Switch. I’m excited for fans of the franchise, and I hope Level-5 delivers a fantastic adventure for those interested in the upcoming new year.
