ATLUS has released a new live-action trailer to promote the upcoming Persona 3 Reload. The trailer both stars and is narrated by Aidan Gallagher, well-known for his role as Number 5 in Netflix’s popular television adaption of The Umbrella Academy. Check it out below!
The trailer opens with Gallagher urging players to consider both time and fate, edited with scenes of the actor traversing locales in Persona 3 Reload. This includes classrooms in Gekkoukan High School, Tatsumi Port Island, and the labyrinthine Tartarus. It ends with Gallagher rendered as an in-game character dispatching a Shadow with a sword, interspersed afterward with cuts of the main cast in action and battle.
The trailer reminds me of mid-2000s era video game commercials in the absolute best way. As someone who grew up in that time, it’s interesting to see that legacy continue for better, for puzzlement, or for worse.
Persona 3 Reload is a full-scale remake of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3, released in the West in 2007. It updates the original with modernised visuals, quality-of-life features, newly arranged music, and additional story focus and content. It tells the story of an unnamed high schooler who joins a group known as S.E.E.S, which seeks to uncover the mystery of the Dark Hour—a mysterious emergence of time between one day and the next. Throughout the game, players will live the life of a high schooler by day across an entire calendar year, uncovering answers to that mystery step by step.
