In non-Nintendo Direct news, Bandai Namco just announced that Shadow of the Erdtree, the expansion DLC for the 2022 megahit Elden Ring, will be released on June 21st for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The publisher also put out a gameplay reveal trailer, and it’s stunning. Check it out below.

There’s a lot to process here, and it’s hard to discuss without getting a little into spoiler territory, so consider yourself warned. The Shadow of the Erdtree trailer spotlights two characters: Miquella, the twin brother of the notorious Malenia, and Messmer the Impaler, the sinister-looking red-headed guy who’s honestly kind of sexy.

Miquella is the arm sticking out of the cocoon, which players might remember encountering after taking out Mohg. We know Messmer, on the other hand, because he’s getting a 46-centimeter statue as part of the collector’s edition set for Shadow of the Erdtree.

See what I mean? He’s sexy.

Here’s a complete list of everything in the €249.99 EUR (roughly $270 USD) collector’s edition, according to the Bandai Namco store.

  • Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree (base game included)
  • Figurine of Messmer the Impaler (46cm)
  • Exclusive Hardcover artbook
  • Digital soundtrack

If you just want to buy the expansion digitally, it’ll run you $39.99 USD on your storefront of choice. Pre-orders are available now.
