At PAX East 2024, developer and publisher Square Enix announced an April 18th release date for The Rising Tide, the second paid expansion for Final Fantasy XVI. The upcoming DLC, which is expected to focus on Leviathan, follows the release of Echoes of the Fallen in December 2023. To access the new content, players must unlock the “Origin” location and complete the “Priceless” quest.

If you heard in the video preview, they’ve added the music from the Awakening trailer. Here’s Masayoshi Soken giving fans what they asked for.

Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide will feature a brand new story, side quests, areas to explore, a +10 level cap increase, water Eikon abilities for Clive, Orchestrion music rolls to listen to in the Hideaway, and the “Curtana” weapon—the legendary Paladin sword from Final Fantasy XIV. But wait, there’s also this not-so-small menace that’s wielding something way bigger than a chef’s knife.
