New Documentaries Showcase Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Development

Square Enix has released a four-part documentary series detailing the development of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for fans and players a month after its launch. Each part focuses on a different aspect of the game design process and features input from dozens of people involved in its creation. For ease of access, each part has been collated below!

Square Enix has given insights to curious players before, releasing a similar documentary series on Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020. Alongside that, the Inside Final Fantasy YouTube series is a collection of documentaries detailing mainline games and spinoffs, diving deep into the franchise’s essence from the perspective of those who created it.

I’m deeply fond of behind-the-scenes documentaries, especially regarding video game development. To demystify how a game is made can only help educate and expand the knowledge of those curious about their favourite games. In a time where nuance can often be in short supply, I find that to be, in many ways, a good thing.
