RPGs Coming This Week, 4/28/24

After last week’s behemoth of a release schedule, I’m pleased to report that the slate has been reduced to three noteworthy indie games. Two we’ve seen before, and a partridge in a pear tree one brand-new title that I haven’t seen a lot of coverage for. It’s unjust, I tell you, so let’s set things right on this edition of RPGs Coming This Week!

Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago – April 30th (Windows, iOS, Android)

Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago synthesizes elements of Pokémon, Dragon Quest, and Tamagotchi to create a potent dose of nostalgia for people raised in the 90s and early 00s. It’s even got the startup screen of the Game Boy Color (Game Joy, to dodge the Nintendo ninjas), and what looks like the proper screen dimensions. Maybe I’m just low-hanging fruit, but I am thoroughly enamored with what 14 Hours Productions is cooking here. Here’s hoping Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago lives up to my high egg-spectations.

What? The devs started it.

Also Coming This Week

Front Mission 2: Remake – April 30th (PS5, XSX, PS4, XB1, Windows)

Coming this week to consoles and PC is Forever Entertainment’s Front Mission 2: Remake, a title once thought to be forever inaccessible to non-Japanese players (officially, that is). Our intrepid reviewer liked it in the end, even if it was a bit of a slog to get there.

Loop Hero – April 30th (iOS, Android)

The much-ballyhooed roguelite slash idle RPG with cards involved Loop Hero is finally coming this week to iOS and Android, and I’m just surprised it hadn’t made the jump sooner. It’s about using a deck of cards to basically build the dungeon the hero explores through. I’ve heard it’s deeply addictive, so be warned.
