Hades II, the follow-up to the hit action RPG slash roguelite by Supergiant Games, dropped into Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store on Monday. It’s since leapfrogged the original game‘s chart records, notching more than 103,000 concurrent players as of May 7th, according to SteamDB.
It’s priced at $29.99 USD right now (other regions may vary), but Supergiant may raise the entry fee as new features are introduced. The original soundtrack, once again by Darren Korb, is also for sale, and it’s also still a work in progress. This means even more music down the line, which I’m sure no one will object to.
Here’s a quick overview of Hades II, just in case you’ve been living under a rock (or in Tartarus).
Hades II is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you’ll battle beyond the Underworld of Greek myth using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of Time. Our studio’s first-ever sequel builds on the best aspects of the award-winning original in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in the Underworld of Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.

As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, you’ll explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the forces of the Titan of Time with the full might of Olympus behind you, in a sweeping story that continually unfolds through your every setback and accomplishment. New locations, challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises await as you delve into the ever-shifting Underworld again and again.
Supergiant saysHades II is on par content-wise with the original game when it launched in Steam EA. Expect major updates in the coming months to add more core content and flesh out interactions with side characters. The story’s conclusion will arrive with the transition to version 1.0.
We chose the original Hades as our Best Indie Game of 2020, celebrating its high level of polish in every aspect. If player reception is any indication, Hades II may well clinch the same award (and many more).
Hades II is out now in Early Access for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
