Join Us All Summer for Summer Megami Tensei – Now Through October!

Summer is upon us, and if you’re a regular viewer (or lurker, we welcome all!) on the RPGFan Twitch channel, you know that means a new marathon is imminent. Scott and our audience had a blast with last year’s Summer of Cold Steel II, so this year we’re upping the ante. With Atlus releasing two major titles just before and after the summer season, it’s time for Summer Megami Tensei!

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Scott will be getting everyone into the SMT spirit with the prior two numbered games in the series, starting on May 24th at 1:00 pm PT / 4:00 pm ET. The marathon will continue beyond the end of the summer season, concluding with the October 11th release of Metaphor: ReFantazio.

The full list of confirmed and potential marathon games, and weekly schedule, are below, and all this excitement will happen on our Twitch channel. But first, we have some exciting prize news!

More Prizes with Pin Box

Last year, we collaborated with Pin Box, who generously sponsored the marathon with weekly prize giveaways to our audience. I’m pleased to say we’re working with Pin Box again this year! This year, we are giving away a £25 gift card every Saturday (starting June 1st) throughout the marathon! This gift card can be used on anything on Pin Box’s site — may I point out their Shin Megami Tensei V lineup? Even better, because they are also excited about SMTV: Vengeance, the June 15th winner will get a £100 gift card!

Unlike last year’s marathon, we don’t have any characters named Rean that we want the audience to torture, so instead you will be (playfully) inflicting Scott with debuffs. Here’s how entering will work:

  • Everyone watching will passively earn points even if you’re just lurking.
  • You can earn more points by actively participating and spinning the wheel which will randomly pick a detriment (tailored to each game) to what Scott is doing, such as forcing him to have his characters attack themselves, waste a turn, switch demons, etc. If these effects cause Scott to die in a battle that you spun the wheel for, you’ll get enough points for another ticket by that Friday.
  • Please note that like last year, you can win a maximum of two times all summer long, but not in consecutive weeks.
  • You can also save your points each week to have more chances the following week, or even save them all for a bigger chance later on. But remember, others can do the same!
  • Prize winners will only need to submit their name and email address (privately) to claim their gift card code. These emails will not be used for any other reason except to send your prize.

Summer Megami Tensei Marathon Games

The marathon will kick off with two SMT games leading up to Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance‘s release on June 14th:

  1. Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster
  2. Shin Megami Tensei IV
  3. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

These games will also make an appearance, but the order is not yet set. Drop by the channel and let us know which you’re most excited to see after SMTVV!

Potential Bonus Atlus Games You May See

There’s a lot of time for games between June and October, so Scott may add even more Shin Megami Tensei and Atlus titles to the mix, such as:

Finally, the marathon closes with the October 11th release of Metaphor: ReFantazio.
