While Sony’s most recent State of Play did not feature a ton of content for RPGFan, Ballad of Antara, a free-to-play dark fantasy RPG by developer TipsWorks (Pascal’s Wager) and publisher Infold Games, served as a bright spot.

For the moment, release details are a bit vague, but so far all information has Ballad of Antara releasing on “multiple platforms” in 2025, with PlayStation 5 being the obvious sure thing for the moment.

Below you can catch the Ballad of Antara announcement trailer, as well as an overview from the game’s official website:

Dark Ages

From a distant past, the arrows of time have gone wayward, and the seeds of everything in-between ceased to blossom. The familiar “essences,” taken away by a sudden cloud of Mist, are veiled under the unknown side of the world.

Time of Erosion

Travel through the Para to seek towering, divine creatures. Retrieve those twisted and lost “essences” of the land, and turn them into powers against the Grey Mist.

Ballad of Antara is set to release on PS5, among others sometime in 2025. For more State of Play news, check the RPGFan home page, and be sure to bookmark us for our Summer Game Fest coverage June 7-9th!

Kyle is just embarking on his main quest at RPGFan and couldn't be more excited to join the team. He discovered the RPGFan community a couple of years ago and, after growing up in Western Canada as a "jock," was thrilled to realize that there were others in the world who learned roman numerals as a teenager thanks to the Final Fantasy series. Contributing to the news team is his main objective at the site and it is his goal to project the confidence of Ron Burgundy while keeping everyone from realizing he might just be Brick Tamland.
