Summer Game Fest is just hours old, but as always RPG fans were treated to several news items. Perhaps none bigger than a brand-new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as confirmation that crossplay will be available from day one.

Monster Hunter Wilds, of course, is the next mainline game in the series and is scheduled for a 2025 release date on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Check out the tweet below from the official Monster Hunter Twitter/X account that contains the trailer shown today at Summer Game Fest, an overview of the game via Steam and the Monster Hunter website (if you’ve somehow missed it), as well as some screenshots.

Monster Hunter Wilds Overview

Monster Hunter Wilds tells the story of a mysterious new land and the people and creatures that inhabit it, their ecosystems and ways of life brought to you in stunning detail.

You’ll be able to experience this story with deeper immersion than ever before. For the first time in the series, the hunter you play as will be fully voiced as they interact with other characters in the story. Cutscenes and gameplay will transition seamlessly between each other without loading screens, resulting in a truly cinematic hunting experience.

A Living World

A world with an ever-changing climate. Life here has learned to adapt to the harsh environments, the wildlife developing its own ecosystem, and the humans developing their own culture within it.

Changing Environments

Each hunting locale features an environment with two dynamically changing identities: one in which the region is harsh and unforgiving where ravenous monsters fight for limited resourcesā€”and another in which the region is vibrant and brimming with life. Changes in the environment also means changes for the monsters and wildlife that live there, so you’ll be running into new surprises around every corner.

Monster Herds

In the Forbidden Lands, you’ll encounter not only herds of small monstersā€”some of the large monsters of the region may also form packs. Each group has its own place in the ecosystem, with its own unique movements and behaviours.

Monster Hunter Wilds is targeting 2025 for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Kyle is just embarking on his main quest at RPGFan and couldn't be more excited to join the team. He discovered the RPGFan community a couple of years ago and, after growing up in Western Canada as a "jock," was thrilled to realize that there were others in the world who learned roman numerals as a teenager thanks to the Final Fantasy series. Contributing to the news team is his main objective at the site and it is his goal to project the confidence of Ron Burgundy while keeping everyone from realizing he might just be Brick Tamland.
