Final Fantasy XVI Brings Eikonic Action To PC on September 17th

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XVI will be coming to PC on September 17th via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A new trailer has been released, dovetailing with the announcement. Check it out below. You may even see a familiar RPG-centric website during the two seconds the wall of scores appears at the 34-second mark!

Final Fantasy XVI “Deliverance” – PC Trailer

Final Fantasy XVI for PC will be released in a standard version and a Complete Edition. The latter will contain both DLC expansions, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. If players are keen on pre-purchasing the game, they will receive three in-game items:

  • Accessory: “Cait Sith’s Charm”
  • Valuable item: “Sixteen Bells Orchestrion Roll”
  • Weapon “Brave Blade”

A demo is also available for PC players to try via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It gives players access to the opening prologue of Final Fantasy XVI and save data can be carried over to the full game upon its release. Once players have completed the demo, they will unlock the “Eikonic Challenge” mode which acts as a showcase of the game’s combat.

Final Fantasy XVI was originally released for the PlayStation 5 in June 2023. It puts players in the role of protagonist Clive Rosfield, the first son of the noble house of Rosariaā€”one of six nations within the realm of Valisthea. Within those nations, grand Mothercrystals give energy and power to technological advancement and civilisation though, slowly, they succumb to a magical drought known as the Blight. In the wake of that looming disaster, Clive is thrust headlong into the cruel claws of both destiny and war where the fate of his family and nation are irrevocably changed. An epic dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is decided by the mighty Eikons and the Dominants who wield them. This is the tale of Clive Rosfield, a warrior granted the title ā€œFirst Shield of Rosariaā€ and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the dominant of the Phoenix. Before long, Clive will be caught up in a great tragedy and swear revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.

Titanic Clashes – When rival Dominants come head to head, epic battles between their Eikons ensue!

Eikonic Action – Clive utilizes the powers of multiple Eikons in breakneck battle!

From Strength to Strength

A plethora of powerful swordplay techniques and Eikonic abilities lie within Clive’s remitā€”and it is up to you to decide which ones you wish to learn or upgrade. If you’re having trouble choosing, upgrades can be unlocked automatically.

Story-focused mode is recommended for those players who are less comfortable with action games and wish to focus more on the game’s story elements. In this mode, Clive will automatically evade some attacks, and epic Eikonic combos can be triggered with simple button presses. Action-focused mode, where Clive’s every action is controlled by the player, is available for those who are confident in their skillā€”or want to test it.
