Still World Detailed in Latest Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Trailer

Zelda stands in front of the Deku Tree in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

With less than three weeks until Nintendo’s favourite “damsel in distress” turns “leading lady”, fans have received a new trailer offering the latest glimpse of Zelda taking center stage in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

The more-than-five-minute preview shows off Zelda’s swordfighter form, how she’ll explore the Still World, and some of its denizens. Check it out for yourself below:

If you’ve missed some of the build-up to this latest installment in the long-running Zelda series, here’s a summary. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sheds Link as its protagonist and thrusts Princess Zelda into the role. After Link and the King of Hyrule go missing, she must embark on a quest to save Hyrule from newly emerged rifts leading to the Still World, which is filled with dangers to face and challenges to overcome.

The ethereal creature Tri will help players enter those rifts to venture into the Still World, which has swallowed up things like trees, land fragments, and people, and left them floating in the void. Zelda, meanwhile, will carve out a path by creating echoes—imitations of objects and creatures found in the environment—which she can do thanks to Tri and the Tri Rod. Echoes enable players to solve puzzles and defend against enemies.

In addition, Zelda can assume a swordfighter form temporarily to attack foes directly. She replenishes her capacity to do so by collecting energy around the Still World.

Zelda also gets help from various other characters, including the automaton maker Dampé.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches for the Nintendo Switch on September 26th, with digital pre-orders available now. If you want to go the extra mile, the Nintendo Switch Lite: Hyrule Edition, which includes Nintendo Online + Expansion Pack for a year, launches on the same day.
