It’s a great time to be an RPGFan. Amid an exciting variety of news over the last several weeks, Nintendo has released yet another trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. No doubt some of the motivation was to ensure fans have the latest entry at the front of their minds ahead of launch on September 26th.
Missed your seat on the hype train? Want a refresher of what’s to come from Princess Zelda’s debut as the leading lady later this month? Check out the new overview trailer below, along with a recap of what we know so far, and some pretty screenshots!
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom sheds Link as its protagonist and thrusts Princess Zelda into the role for the first time in the series. After Link and the King of Hyrule go missing, Zelda must embark on a quest to save Hyrule from newly emerged rifts leading to the Still World, which is filled with dangers to face and challenges to overcome.
Zelda is not alone however, and Nintendo’s most famous damsel in distress will receive help from a variety of other characters, including the automaton maker DampĂ© and the ethereal creature Tri. It is Tri who will grant players the ability to enter the aforementioned rifts and venture into the Still World. Time stands “still” in this version of the world and anything that has been swallowed like trees, land fragments, or people are left floating in the seemingly endless void.
Zelda, meanwhile, will need to carve out a path by creating echoesâimitations of objects and creatures found in the environmentâwhich she can do thanks (again) to Tri and the Tri Rod. Echoes enable players to solve puzzles and defend against enemies.
In addition, Zelda can assume a swordfighter form temporarily to attack foes directly. She replenishes her capacity to do so by collecting energy around the Still World.
