Pathea Games has announced that a new entry in the My Time series is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and “future Nintendo platforms yet to be announced.” [Editor’s Note: Almost certainly referring to the Switch successor.]
My Time at Evershine will be set three years after My Time At Sandrock. Pathea Games hopes to appeal to fans of life sims and RPGs with new, expanded game elements.
Currently in early development, Pathea Games’ Kickstarter for My Time at Evershine goes live on September 24th worldwide. Here’s what the studio’s creative director has to say about the campaign.
“My Time at Sandrock cost a lot, like $12-million-a-lot, and still counting, we expect Evershine’s budget to be somewhere in the ballpark as well,” explained Zifei Wu, Creative Director of the My Time series.
“Having extra funding at this early stage of development allows us to plan for bigger and better features, and allows the community to give us direct feedback while we’re still deciding key elements of the game’s design and execution.”
Players will serve as Governor of the new settlement and play through a 40+ hour narrative featuring a cast of eight to ten romanceable characters. Rather than being the builder, who often would take care of tasks no one else wanted, the Governor will be able to delegate smaller, more mundane tasks to residents. The settlement begins modestly — just a small campfire — meaning the destiny of this burgeoning town is up to you.
My Time at Evershine‘s campaign will be fully multiplayer, a first for the series, allowing players to join forces to make the best settlement possible and help the Alliance build a strong hold against the Duvos Empire. The host will control the story’s pace, but all players will share resources and money allowing for collaboration and shared strategy. My Time at Evershine will also feature full mod support to allow players more freedom to customize.
Pathea also gave a brief overview of the story and the changes to the relationship-building mechanic.
Meaningful Relationships
Social play was a key part of My Time At Sandrock and My Time At Portia. In My Time At Evershine Pathea is set to expand these systems even more. Players can recruit up to 3 followers to stay with them during day-to-day tasks or they can dispatch them to do their bidding across Northern Eufala. Pathea is targeting 8 to 10 romanceable characters in the campaign with dozens of other characters spread throughout the game.
Players will also have to take their followers’ needs and wants into account with tiredness and hunger impacting morale and performance. RPG players will love the deep character interactions and the ability to forge meaningful relationships, with romanceable characters integrated into the storyline and more opportunities to develop connections earlier in the campaign.
Tame A Wild New Frontier
3 years after the events of My Time at Sandrock, the Duvos Empire has taken over the Orzu Ruins which Ethea also claims as their own, leading to a tense situation just north of the Alliance of Free Cities border in the Northern Eufaula region. In response, the Alliance has launched the North Development Plan to move settlers into the area and establish a new City-State for better defense. Evershine is one of six major new settlements in the area and will prove pivotal in the ongoing hostilities.
Pathea has promised to release more details about My Time at Evershine as development progresses. Players who enjoy games like Stardew Valley and Story of Seasons may want to add this to their libraries.
My Time at Evershine is in development for PS5, XSX, PC via Steam and future Nintendo platforms.
