Level-5 Unveils Holy Horror Mansion, a New Take on Yo-kai Watch

Level-5 has revealed Holy Horror Mansion, a “next concept” for the Yo-kai Watch series. Described as a “Ghost Craft RPG,” the game has not been confirmed for any platforms or a release date, though it’s supposed to be “coming soon.”

Our first look at Holy Horror Mansion came as part of the recent Level-5 Vision 2024 to the World’s Children live stream. The developer touted the reveal as the largest-ever launch for a cross-media project.

You can find the teaser trailer below.

(Hey, it’s the “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” guy!)

Here’s the basic premise: you play as the grandson of a landlady whose apartment complex is a gateway to the underworld, and your entire family lives in a mansion on top of the building. To drive the point home further, the protagonist’s name is Ten Lordland. I’m genuinely not sure what part of that is scarier.

As for gameplay, well, Ten eventually befriends two ghosts; the green one possesses objects that seem to become the game’s collectible monsters, while the blue one empowers you to make “chimeras” by combining objects. By the way, the blue ghost is who Pikutaro (the PPAP guy) plays, which just makes total sense.

Like Yo-kai Watch, Holy Horror Mansion will feature a ghost camera for identifying ghosts in the environment. When you do, standard turn-based RPG battles with said ghosts will ensue.
