Publisher Square Enix and developer Frima have announced that Triangle Strategy will release in VR on the Meta Quest 3S, Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 2 on October 31st. The turn-based tactical RPG was originally launched two years ago for Nintendo Switch and PC.

What an unexpected turn of events. Triangle Strategy releasing in VR is something I never had on my metaphorical bingo card. It’s cool that more RPGs are coming to that space, and the gameplay in the trailer makes it look much more fun and immersive than the Switch version, which our own Niki Fakhoori reviewed. I’m sure I’m not the only one waiting for the day this comes to PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4, though.

Triangle Strategy Overview

TRIANGLE STRATEGY on Meta Quest offers a complex, tactical battle system enhanced by intuitive VR controls that make for an immersive hands-on RPG experience. Utilize 360-degree 3D movement on the battlefield and place characters yourself to fine-tune combat strategy – with the characters’ fates literally in your hands, players can experience the dramatic story of clashing kingdoms like never before. The title also supports Meta Quest’s Passthrough feature on Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S, meshing the game’s environment with real-world surroundings to create next-level immersion.

From the team behind OCTOPATH TRAVELER and BRAVELY DEFAULTTRIANGLE STRATEGY is a fan-favorite tactical RPG that challenges players to determine the fate of three powerful kingdoms embroiled in conflict – Glenbrook, Aesfrost, and Hyzante. Players will guide protagonist Serenoa Wolffort and his faithful companions, childhood friend Prince Roland, fiancée Princess Frederica Aesfrost and the steward of House Wolffort Benedict, on their journey to navigate their way through this new conflict.

Key Features

Voting

Important decisions that will decide the fate of the protagonist and his allies will be determined through a vote using the Scales of Conviction. For the player to assert their own opinion, they must convince their allies. Choices with a profound impact on the destinies of the group will likewise have a major impact on the story.

Highly strategic battles

It will be crucial to use the terrain and differences in elevation to position yourself advantageously. Enjoy satisfying and challenging battles and strategy with great depth: with the ability to select from characters with uniquely different traits in your party formation, and gameplay systems that allow flanking the enemy to perform follow-up attacks or using your allies’ abilities to coordinate attacks.

Converse with and strengthen your allies in the Encampment

In the Encampment, you can speak with allied characters and purchase goods from shops. You can also strengthen your characters and weapons at the Sundry Shop and the Smithy. Additionally, once you’ve strengthened your characters, you can put their strength to the test at the Tavern by taking part in Mental Mock Battles. These battles range from standard combat to those with somewhat unique victory conditions, allowing you to enjoy Triangle Strategy’s combat on an even deeper level.
