Developer BioWare recently revealed Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s accessibility features in a blog post. While such options are nothing new to gaming, they’ve improved immensely over the years, making the hobby more friendly to all walks of life than ever before.

Regardless of skill level or ability, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the full experience and story of our game.

Difficulty and Display Options

Players can select from one of five difficulty options, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The HUD will be customizable, with options to conditionally hide things such as the minimap, health, or quest tracker.

Subtitles and Visuals

Dragon Age: The Veilguard players can customize their subtitles fully, allowing them to change the size, color, and opacity. There will also be options for audio and visual aids, such as indicators of incoming attacks.

Impressively, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will have a full-screen color filter to improve visibility. Colorblind modes are often too limited in how they assist players, and the ability to adjust the full-screen is an exciting prospect for those with visual difficulties.

BioWare has also stated that all keybindings are remappable on controllers and keyboards, the former being something that only a limited number of games allow players to do. There’s an entire accessibility page that explains in depth all the accessibility features and how they function. Here’s an excerpt.

On first launch, players are provided a curated list of settings for UI text size options, subtitle options, controller options, and various display options. Upon starting a new game, players can use our Customizable Difficulty system to choose the level of challenge they want to experience. By selecting from a list of modular combat presets, they’ll be able to individually adjust a number of granular factors, including enemy aggression, enemy resistances, and combat timing.

Certainly players of all skill and ability levels will be able to enjoy the next installment in the Dragon Age franchise.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches October 31st for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
