You know you are one of the year’s biggest gaming shows when almost a full week after The Game Awards 2024, we are still looking to catch up RPGFans on the all the news and game announcements. Let’s tackle the latest, shall we?
As part of the aforementioned gaming show, Indie studio Tactical Adventures announced Solasta II, a sequel to 2021’s tabletop-inspired RPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Solasta II is set to launch in Early Access on PC in 2025, with a free playable demo due for release early next year.
“With our first game,” Mathieu Girard, Creative Director, shared, “we started as a Kickstarter success story, building on the SRD 5.1 ruleset to create a tactical RPG that has resonated with over 1.5 million players. Now, with Solasta II, we’re taking all that even further – pushing the system with fresh takes on tactical depth, fun and accessibility.”
The sequel is set decades after the events of the original game and transports players to the vibrant high-fantasy lands of Neokos. Perhaps unsurprisingly, not all is well in the realm.
An all-powerful being named Shadwyn, voiced by Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate 3, Hades II), and her seemingly endless tide of corruption spreads across the continent. Players will need to create a band of valiant adventurers, roll the dice with the D20 system and embark on a quest filled with strategy, magic, and intrigue. Solasta II will include navigating vast landscapes, contending with political factions vying for power, and critical decision making, all with the goal of ending an ancient feud before it engulfs the lands in bloodshed and strife.
You can check out the trailer for the game below, as well as an overview of the game (via Steam), and the first screenshots from Solasta II.
Uncover the Lands of Neokos
Create and guide your party of 4 adventurers as they head to the faraway continent of Neokos in a quest driven by their family legacy. In the face of the threat by the ancient and enigmatic Shadwyn, what choices will you make to push back the impending tide of corruption?
Solasta II is a grand sequel to Solasta: Crown of the Magister, a much beloved Tactical RPG known for its faithfulness to the Tabletop experience. Decades after defeating the Sorak menace, a new flegdling party of heroes travels to distant lands in search for redemption.
Just Like on Tabletop
Solasta II remains true to its promise to deliver gameplay based on the world’s most popular TTRPG. Prepare your spells, land that sneak attack, smite this monster – bathe in the familiarity of your Tabletop experience.
But that’s not all Solasta II will have to offer. This new opus will also allow you to freely roam the lands of Neokos, to explore and uncover the map as you will. Whether you stick to familiar roads, or head off into the wilderness… The choice is yours. Just be careful – because as we’ve always said…
You make the choices, dice decide your destiny.
