Developer Nihon Falcom is re-releasing Ys X: Nordics in an enhanced edition titled Ys X: Proud Nordics in 2025 in Japan. This upgraded version includes new story content, a new locale, and more adventure elements. As of this writing, the company hasn’t revealed the platforms for this action RPG game.

Ys X: Proud Nordics Overview

ā€œWith pride in our hearts, set off on a new adventure!!ā€

Ys X: Proud Nordics will launch in 2025 in Japan as a significantly upgraded version of the action RPG Ys X: Nordics, featuring a new story, new settings for adventure, and numerous new elements.

Aland Island is a massive island located to the north of Obelia Gulf. In the midst of battling the immortal creatures known as Griegr, the red-haired adventurer Adol and the pirate princess Karja visit the island and encounter countless ruins on its unexplored lands.

What happened on this islandā€¦?

An encounter with another ā€œMana userā€ leads Adol and his companions on an unknown adventureā€¦

In addition to the exhilarating offensive and defensive ā€œCross Actionsā€ between Adol and Karja, Ys X: Proud Nordics introduces new ā€œMana Actionsā€ along with a vast map of Aland Island and exploration areas! There is also plenty of additional content, including new bosses, Mana Ride races, and arena battles where formidable foes await.

Please look forward to a new Ys story, reborn as Ys X: Proud Nordics!

I didn’t see this coming. I’m sure many of you didn’t either. In fact, I just recently purchased Ys X, and I’m not sure what to feel about this update. As much as I love getting new content, I’m part of the camp that isn’t a fan of this development approach. On the other hand, I’ve heard many good things about Adol and Karja’s adventures from Sean Cabot’s PS5 review.

Ys X: Proud Nordics is scheduled to launch in Japan in 2025. Ys X: Nordics recently launched in the West and is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. If you want to give it a shot, the beefy demo is up on multiple platforms.
