Materia Collective to Publish New Guild Wars 2 Score Book

As long-running MMORPG Guild Wars 2 continues its content expansion in the season-based Living World updates, publisher Materia Collective is publishing a book of complete scores (sheet music). Titled Guild Wars 2: Living World Season 2 Score Book, this book contains the full scores for all 19 pieces of music written for season 2 of Living World, composed by Maclaine Diemer, Lena Raine, and Stan LePard.

This score book, which includes some stunning official artwork (see images below), is designed for fans, music students, and aspiring composers. We reached out to Materia to ask the question: what about performance of the material? Utilizing these scores in a high school, college, or enthusiast band or orchestra seems like an appealing opportunity, but licensing issues tend to get in the way. In response to this question, we were told that “while purchasing a book does not come with a license to perform it, Materia are authorized to grant such licenses; anyone wanting to perform it can reach them at info@materiamusicpub.com.”

An exact publication date for the Guild Wars 2: Living World Season 2 Score Book has not been determined, but we anticipate seeing a listing soon! This will be printed under the “Materia Editions” imprint label that has also given us sheet music for the likes of Undertale, Celeste, Hollow Knight, Dust: An Elysian Tail, and more. On a personal note, I own both Undertale Piano Collections books and can vouch for their overall quality. The jump from piano solo to full score is one I can barely wrap my mind around, but I am glad to see Materia taking on the task!
