Deltarune Chapters 1-4 Will Launch on June 5th [UPDATE]

Chapters 1 to 4 of Deltarune are launching as a single package on June 5th. It’ll be a launch title for Nintendo Switch 2, but it’s also coming to PlayStation 5 and 4, PC and macOS via Steam, and, of course, the original Switch.

This confirms what creator Toby Fox confirmed last year, that chapters 3 and 4 of this mysterious follow-up to Undertale would be releasing sometime in 2025.

Here’s the brief trailer shared during the big Switch 2 presentation.

Do note that you can already play chapters 1 and 2 on consoles or PC for free! The first one came out all the way back in 2018, while the second released in 2021. It’s this new release that will finally cost… something. We don’t know how much it’ll be yet, but per Fox on Bluesky, there will be a newsletter with more information in the coming hours.

A Newsletter with more information will be dispatched to all subscribers within the next 6 hours. In the meantime, please access deltarune.com for more details.🐕

So keep tuned for more Deltarune news — plus any and all relevant Switch 2 news — as they come!

UPDATE: We learned from the newsletter update that Deltarune will cost $24.99 USD; subsequent chapters will be delivered as free updates. Fox also shared that the soundtrack — 150 tracks as of chapter 4 — will be available on Steam for $14.99, and buying it there will let you get the new tracks that come with every update. But if you prefer, the soundtrack to chapters 3 and 4 will be available as a separate release on Bandcamp, just like for 1 and 2.

Fox detailed some of the differences Deltarune will have on each platform. Check out the breakdown below.

As an effort to make the most of being a LAUNCH TITLE for the Nintendo Switch 2, I really wanted to try to do something special…

So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!! You can see it in the trailer!!

But, don’t worry! Even if you can’t get your hands on a Nintendo Switch 2 right away, the other versions of the game also have THE SPECIAL ROOM, with a completely different control scheme! (To clarify, all non-Nintendo Switch 2 versions have the exact same content as each other.)

There is no meaningful difference in content amount, dialogue, setting, music etc between any version, so you will have a full package of fun no matter which you get! No one gets left out!

And — just to clarify for the cats in the back — no matter what version you buy, EVERYONE gets PLUEY — for FREE!!!

Other Differences:

Nintendo Switch 2—

  • UNIQUE SPECIAL SMALL ROOM!
  • Can import save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of DELTARUNE Chapter 1&2!
  • Can import save files from the Nintendo Switch version of DELTARUNE (the full game), too!

Nintendo Switch—

  • Can import save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of DELTARUNE Chapter 1&2!
  • Get to watch the cute loading screen longer than other consoles!

PC/MAC Versions—

  • Convenience of having it on your PC!
  • Recommended control scheme for the non-Nintendo Switch 2 SPECIAL ROOM

PS4 & PS5 Versions—

  • Can import save files from the PS4 demo of DELTARUNE Chapter 1&2!
  • PS5 version can import save files from the PS4 version of DELTARUNE (the full game), too!
  • We were required to have TROPHIES! This time, they give rise to a pretty hard-core challenge. But – and PLEASE listen – I make no endorsement that you actually attempt it! Even knowing of its mere existence will only bring you frustration and anguish! Honestly, it may be one of the worst ideas I’ve ever had. Perhaps no one will even try. Maybe that’s for the best after all… I think it will be too late for most of you anyway…
