Fans of the popular tabletop game with a dark spin on Arthurian legends, Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, will be delighted to hear the latest update on the video game adaptation. After being in development for six years (two in Early Access), the Polish first-person, open-world RPG launches officially on May 23rd. You may be familiar with the series with 2021’s Tainted Grail: Conquest, though that title was a roguelite card battler set in the same world. You can tell the game wears its RPG inspirations on its sleeve in the release date trailer below:

Not sure what to make of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon? Luckily, a demo is available on multiple platforms. If a 50–70 hour open-world RPG set in a grim retelling of Arthurian legend sounds exciting, this might just be the game for you. Do you want to be an alchemist or a blacksmith? The choice is yours!

Developer Questline and Publisher Awaken Realms gave us the highlights on what to expect from the final version of the game:

  • Three massive zones to explore: Horns of the South, Cuanacht, and Forlorn Swords.
  • 250 unique NPCs, fully voice-acted, adding depth and personal touch to the world.
  • Over 200 side quests, ensuring countless hours of engaging gameplay.

Dynamic combat

Swap between powerful melee weapons, bows, magic, throwables, mixtures, and other usables to create your unique combat style that will get tested by tons of hard enemies in the game!

Play as you want!

Want to be a crazy alchemist/berserker punching enemies? Sure, why not? An epic blacksmith mage summoning undead hordes? Yep, we got you covered. Unique stealthy archer? No, not this one… … just kidding, obviously. This is THE type of game to go for a stealth archer archetype. Between stats, perks, EQ, and crafting, you can play exactly as you want.

Experience a dark main storyline, following in the footsteps of Arthur. You will also be able to find over 250 NPCs, 200 side quests, and tasks that will often force you to make hard, morally grey decisions.
