With inspiration taken from critically acclaimed Disco Elysium and the beautiful architecture of Istanbul, Pera Coda already sounds promising. Throw in puzzles that rely on time loop mechanics similar to the game 12 Minutes and exploration-driven mysteries like in Outer Wilds, and you’ve got quite the combination! This narrative-driven adventure game was unveiled by Turkish developer and publisher Elyzio, a company composed of former employees of Google and Ubisoft.
Take a look at Pera Coda‘s announcement teaser trailer below:
The story follows Deniz, a man caught between life and death in a beautiful and surreal recreation of Istanbul. While you’ll be pointing and clicking your way through the town solving puzzles, you won’t be running into any combat or “grind.” According to the game’s art director, Ahmet Kazanci, “This is both a love letter to our city and a universal human story about guilt, regret, and the search for peace.” Furthermore, the game is “rooted in a surreal reimagining of Istanbul, real locations, rich with local nuance and emotional texture that are rarely seen in games. Istanbul becomes both a stage and a mirror, where East meets West, chaos meets calm, and each district reflects a piece of your fragmented self.”
