RPGs Coming This Week, 10/19/25

Screenshot of Dispatch, one of the RPGs coming this week

In this edition of RPGs Coming This Week, spooky season kicks into high gear. From vampires and ghosts to superheroes and fantasy maidens, there’s no shortage of Halloween costume inspos right now. Not for me, though. I’ve mostly been parked in front of the TV playing horror games.

I’ve been neck deep in recent blockbusters like Alan Wake 2 and Silent Hill f lately. Now I’m considering a horror (or horror-adjacent) RPG, but the question right now is what… Any and all suggestions welcome except Parasite Eve, which I’ve already played.

But enough blabbering. Let’s get on with the list!

Fantasy Maiden Wars – Dream of the Stray Dreamer – October 20th (Windows)

Fantasy Maiden Wars – Dream of the Stray Dreamer is kind of a mouthful of a title, but it’s really quite simple to understand. It’s a classic grid-based strategy RPG starring characters from Touhou Project, that series of bullet hell shmups with a sprawling doujin scene (i.e., community making fanmade content, including games). Dream of the Stray Dreamer is one of those fangames. Moreover, it’s a compilation of all four games in the Fantasy Maiden Wars series, finally being made available in English. I suspect only a small niche of a niche will care for this right now, but I can see it building up a following over time.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 – October 21st (PS5, XSX, Windows)

In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, you awaken in present-day Seattle as an elder vampire emerging from a century-long slumber. You are the Nomad, new to the modern nights, and from the moment you rise, you sense that the city stands on the brink of a supernatural war. With Fabien, a vampire detective, at your side, you will explore Seattle to reopen a cold case from 100 years ago, one that may be the cause of the coming conflict and threatens both undead and mortal society alike.

In this game, you are the monster. You must feed, for blood is your only sustenance. You will stalk and prey upon the city’s population at night, using your supernatural powers to lure unsuspecting mortals into the shadows. But remember: do not break the Masquerade, for you are not the only creature that haunts the night.

In this sequel to the cult classic, your choices and actions carry real weight. Be careful not to feed too recklessly, or you might never see what becomes of the city… or its people.

Dispatch – October 22nd (PS5, Windows)

Screenshot of Dispatch, one of the RPGs coming this week

Dispatch is the first game from AdHoc Studio, a team founded by industry veterans from Telltale Games, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio. That means a lot of experience behind this young studio, and this debut title already shows plenty of attention to detail.

In Dispatch, you play as Robert Robertson, also known as Mecha Man. In modern-day Los Angeles, heroes and villains exist, and they fight every day, everywhere. The problem is that most heroes are misfits who often cause more harm than good without thinking about the consequences.

You, Robert Robertson, have just seen your mech suit destroyed in a battle against your nemesis, which leaves you technically unemployed. Forced to take a job at a superhero dispatch center called SDN, you are no longer a hero but a dispatcher. You’ll manage a team of ex-supervillains and guide them through emergencies across the city, all while juggling office politics, personal relationships, and your own quest to rebuild your suit and reclaim your place as a hero.

Just like in The Wolf Among Us and other Telltale-style games, your choices matter. In this superhero workplace comedy, your decisions shape the story by affecting your relationships and the path your character takes. Visually, Dispatch could easily be mistaken for an animated series. It features beautiful, comic book-style art that feels straight out of a Western graphic novel. The acting is also strong, with a talented cast that includes Aaron Paul, Jeffrey Wright, and Erin Yvette. If you’re interested, you can try the demo yourself on Steam. Personally, I loved it. Many aspects of this project look promising so far, and we’ll soon see how it all comes together when the game releases.

The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles – October 23rd (Windows, macOS, Linux)

The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles is a pixel-art dungeon-crawler RPG with roguelite elements. You play as an adventurer descending into a glorious labyrinth to recover a sacred relic: the SACRED GROOWL!

Mandated by the king, you can play as the hero Achille William Angelos McDurden or his cousin, the heroine Giada Brigitta Siglinda McDurden. Your goal is to find the relic first, facing goofy dialogues, tricky puzzles, and strategic turn-based battles with real-time elements. The game features a Swing Meter mechanic that requires you to press the spacebar at just the right time to parry, deal extra damage, or land critical hits. Every path you choose presents new challenges, and you will never experience the same journey twice, since the labyrinth changes each time you die.

You can choose between three profiles: the combat-focused Destroyer, the stealthy Explorer, or the lore-hungry Resolver. Interestingly, these profiles are not classes or difficulty levels. Each one changes the gameplay experience in unique ways, such as making battles harder but cutting down on dialogue, or making combat easier while emphasizing conversations and story choices. You’ll have plenty of freedom to build your character however you like. Every weapon has its own skill tree, offering deep customization options and allowing you to shape your hero’s playstyle.

If you want to try the game before its official release, you can play the demo on Steam right now. I played the demo myself, and by choosing the Resolver, I ended up with a LOT of dialogue, ahaha! The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles is truly a wild ride, filled with sharp humor, witty dialogue, and hundreds of pop culture and video game references that will make the adventure all the more entertaining, even if you die again and again… and again.

Dreamed Away – October 23rd (XSX, XB1, Switch, Windows, macOS, Linux)

Artwork of Dreamed Away

Dreamed Away is a story-driven action-adventure RPG set in France during the 1990s. With its pixel art style, it could easily be described as the French Undertale, but it is much more than that. You play as Théo, a boy who wakes up on a rainy summer night to find that his parents and his sister, Louise, have disappeared. The world around him has turned strange and nightmarish, now filled with ghosts, phantoms, and revenants that haunt his every step. Your goal is to find your family as you make your way through catacombs and other dark places where something sinister always seems one step ahead.

Dreamed Away features a unique, fast-paced combat system made up of mini-games. Sometimes you’ll need to dodge attacks, other times you’ll have to press the spacebar or arrow keys at just the right moment. Each enemy you encounter brings a new challenge, with mini-games that grow more complex as the story unfolds.

What happened to Théo? What does it all mean? And why must a little boy fight skeletons and spirits in the dark? You can uncover these mysteries in the full game, or get a glimpse of them right now by trying the demo on Steam.

The Lonesome Guild – October 23rd (PS5, XSX, Windows)

The Lonesome Guild is a game about friendship, despite what its title might suggest. In a world shrouded in loneliness, you play as Ghost, a spirit who awakens with no memories. Loneliness is spreading across the land, corrupting everyone and everything in its path. It’s up to you to bring light back into the world by gathering a band of misfits who will help each other and themselves feel a little less alone.

This band is made up of six unlikely friends, each of whom you’ll recruit one by one. Every character has their own story, quirks, motives, and abilities. You can switch seamlessly between all six at any time to use their powers to their fullest potential. In combat, their abilities combine to create powerful combos, and each member will also help you solve the many puzzles scattered throughout the game.

Your ultimate goal is to help the group grow together as a team. As your friendships deepen, your allies will find inner peace and unlock new powers and combinations in battle.

Together, you are unstoppable, and that’s what this game is all about. The world of Etere is a place worth fighting for. You’ll explore diverse landscapes, from ancient ruins to sulfurous cities, all rendered with stunning beauty. Do your best to restore balance and hope to this lonely world, because it might be lonesome… but you don’t have to be.

Freelance graphic designer by day and gaming aficionado by night, Adem joined the RPGFan team to fully express his passion for video games. He grew up playing on his uncle's PC and PS2, which introduced him to many titles he was probably too young for (Resident Evil 4 and Vagrant Story at 8?!). Thankfully, his uncle also passed on the dedication needed to reload a Dragon Quest VIII save just to earn enough casino tokens for the Gringham Whip, and for that, he's forever grateful.
