RPGs Coming This Week, 11/2/25

In this edition of RPGs Coming This Week: a balanced slate of remasters and brand-new games. This is a good week if you feel like checking out European classics or, as is usual, the latest JRPGs. If neither area is your bag… well, congrats on saving money! But stick around regardless because where else are you going to find coverage of all these games!

Aeruta (Exiting Early Access) – November 5th (Windows)

I’ll never turn down a good shop management game, especially the kind where you can hack and slash between business hours. The likes of Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale and Moonlighter come to mind with their immaculate gameplay loop of dungeon crawling for supplies and merchanting the spoils. If you’ve been itching for another one of these (and can no longer wait for Moonlighter 2 later this month), don’t fret. FromDawn Games’ Aeruta is graduating from Steam Early Access this week and looks to satisfy enterprising types with its mix of side-scrolling and dough-rolling.

Put simply, Aeruta is about running a bread shop. The core of it is baking and selling with some light chores on the side like cleaning the store. Of course, bread needs ingredients, which are gathered by venturing into dungeons and beating down monsters. The combat doesn’t seem to be overly simple; the full release has a skill tree and some weapon variety, as well as a badge system to mix things up. Outside of the job, there are NPCs to befriend and a town to build. It’s all quite promising.

If you’re reading this before November 5th, you still have time to grab Aeruta at below its final pricing. Better move fast!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment – November 6th (Switch 2)

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, the third entry in The Legend of Zelda‘s musou spinoff series, releases for the Nintendo Switch 2 this week. It expands upon the gameplay of the previous entry, Age of Calamity. The Hyrule Warriors games take the lore and setting from Nintendo’s flagship series and mash it with the hack-and-slash action of Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors games.

Zelda fans have reason to be excited by Age of Imprisonment’s story. The game reveals previously untold stories leading to the events of the massive hit Tears of the Kingdom. Zelda is featured as a playable character, alongside a cast of familiar sages from TOTK and some new allies. The gameplay promises the fast-paced action combat and strategic elements Warriors titles are known for, with players able to execute powerful Sync Strikes (combo attacks) by pairing different characters. Age of Imprisonment is sure to be a late-year hit for Nintendo’s newest console. Players can explore Hyrule yet again on November 6th.

Syberia Remastered – November 6th (PS5, XSX, Windows)

This week brings with it the release of Syberia Remastered. Co-developed by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, the remaster aims to deliver a beautiful, modernized version of the beloved classic adventure title. Newcomers and seasoned fans will have the chance to immerse themselves in the world of Kate Walker, a tenacious New York lawyer who unwittingly embarks on a mystery-laden journey through the snow-covered terrains of Europe. Kate makes an acquaintance in the form of an automaton named Oscar, and together the pair embark on a quest to track down an eccentric yet elusive inventor, Hans Voralberg.

The remastered version includes enhanced character animations and 3D environments, reimagined puzzles, and a refreshed control scheme. The game also promises to stay faithful to the original story, but with a contemporary twist. Kate and Oscar journey across Eastern Europe to track down Voralberg, a genius on his own quest to discover living mammoths on the fabled island of Syberia.

Syberia is a revered adventure game, and Syberia Remastered will give a new generation a chance to discover the classic with modern enhancements. The game releases on November 6th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Anima Gate of Memories: I & II Remastered – November 7th (PS5, XSX, Windows)

Anima Gate of Memories: I & II Remastered bundles new and improved versions of Anima: Gate of Memories and companion story The Nameless Chronicles. The two titles are action RPGs based on the Spanish tabletop RPG Anima: Beyond Fantasy, which was inspired by the likes of Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Suikoden.

It’s easy to see why some refer to the Anima games as character action games. The pace of combat can be relentless and the depth is undoubtedly there. Coupled with the visual upgrades (as shown in the trailer above), I feel like this remaster collection has the potential to attract a wider audience to Anima.

variable

As far as I was aware, Hyrule Warriors was more of an attempt at an action game by a studio managed by Koei Tecmo & Syberia was basically an adventure game. Seems like not the strongest week for RPGs, but this year has been ridiculously packed with good ones to play! I’m not expecting them all to be winners!
