Xbox and PlayStation fans of tactical RPGs will have reason to celebrate this week. Dark Deity 2 from developer Sword & Axe LLC made its way onto Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 yesterday, November 7th.
Dark Deity 2 is the sequel to the 2021 indie gem, Dark Deity. The series draws heavy influences from Gameboy Advance-era Fire Emblem games. Since launching on PC and Nintendo Switch, Dark Deity 2 has captivated players with its retro pixel art, fully voiced narrative, and deep tactical systems.
Set 25 years after the original, the sequel reenters the war-torn land of Verroa, which once experienced peace under the Eternal Order. However, a new empire has emerged, vying to claim its legacy. Players can take charge of Gwyn and Riordian, descendants of the first game’s heroes. Together, they must gather a diverse cast of twenty warriors to combat an impending invasion. The game currently holds a Very Positive rating on Steam. RPGFan’s own Audra Bowling reviewed the PC version upon release and gave it a glowing 91/100 score.
