In this edition of RPGs Coming This Week, we tackle a sneaky good (if small) lineup featuring two very stylish titles and ports of some crowd favorites. I’m sure the timing isn’t ideal right now with the holidays looming and disposable income being as tight as it’s ever been for most folks, so here’s us mustering the best spotlight we can for now. Let’s dive in!
Angeline Era – December 8th (Windows)
Angeline Era is an upcoming nonlinear 3D action-adventure game where every level hides in plain sight. You drop into a stylized 3D overworld and freely search the environment to uncover hidden paths, secrets, and new levels. You explore the land of Era and survive its trap-filled ruins, primordial forests, and more to reach the Angel’s mothership, Throne. Your goal is to unlock its secrets and learn more about this world where Fae, Angels, and Humans live together more or less peacefully. The world blends fae folklore, angelic sci-fi, and a dynamic mix of Irish mythology, early Christian philosophy, and Japanese-American history. You will uncover a lot of information to understand the stakes and consequences of your actions!
Combat is pretty unique in this game and revolves around a single mechanic: you attack by bumping into enemies. It might feel simple at first, but by the end of the game, the levels will be packed with foes, so navigating through them will take real skill! Explore a massive overworld with no markers or quest arrows, earn Scales from completed levels, and use them to level up. All of this prepares you to face a series of bosses crafted with distinct personalities and mechanics. If you want to try this high-energy action game, you can already play the demo on Steam before the full game launches.

You Are Not Bunnygirl – December 12th (Windows)
On the surface, You Are Not Bunnygirl is more than a little reminiscent of Undertale. The aesthetics and highly specific brand of humor will be familiar to those who have played the now decade-old RPG and/or its imitators. Bunnygirl‘s themes, at least from what we can tell, feel similarly thoughtful and and sensitive. The game stars the titular character and is about her journey to escape an underground lab. The trials she faces along the way help us learn who she is, what she’s like, and what happened to her. A demo’s available on Steam.
