Skyrim Available Now on Switch 2

Surprise! The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, the legendary game that has already launched on almost every platform we know about, is coming to a new console: the Nintendo Switch 2. Bethesda announced it today, and it is available right now as a free Switch 2 upgrade if you already own the Anniversary Edition on the original Switch.

Otherwise, you can upgrade from the base game to the Anniversary Edition for $19.99 USD. And if you do not own the game at all, you can purchase the full game for $59.99. Check out how Skyrim looks on Switch 2 and what has improved in the video below.

This news does not come as a surprise, since Skyrim launches on everything. It works a bit like Doom: if a console can run it, Skyrim will appear on it. The free upgrade for Switch 1 owners is still great news. The game takes advantage of the Switch 2 hardware, with enhanced resolution, faster loading times, better performance, and even mouse control support. You also get unique The Legend of Zelda content such as the Championโ€™s Tunic, the Hylian Shield, and even the Master Sword! The Anniversary Edition also includes the three official expansions and many Creation Club items, including DLC sized content you can buy directly in game.

If you, like me, have bought Skyrim on far too many platforms and feel tempted to start a collection of Skyrim copies from different consoles, why not continue it with the Switch 2 edition? It is free if you already have it on Switch 1, or you can buy the entire game for $59.99.

He grew up playing on his uncle's PC and PS2, which introduced him to many titles he was probably too young for (Resident Evil 4 and Vagrant Story at 8?!). Thankfully, his uncle also passed on the dedication needed to reload a Dragon Quest VIII save just to earn enough casino tokens for the Gringham Whip, and for that, he's forever grateful.
