In this edition of RPGs Coming This Week, it’s the end of an era — our 2025 era! Barring any last-minute surprises, the well of releases has officially frozen over for the year, so expect the column to return in 2026! With that said, we have two final items on the agenda before we bid you adieu. So let’s dive in!

Utawarerumono: ZAN – December 16th (Windows)

Utawarerumono: ZAN is coming this week to PC, over six years after releasing in the west on PlayStation 4. It retells the story of Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, albeit heavily abridged, and plays like a hack-and-slash action RPG. Probably not the best place to start for newcomers, but this should be a welcome part for diehards.

System Shock – December 18th (Switch 2, Switch)

The 2023 remake of System Shock is heading to Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Nightdive Studios (the GOATs of re-releases, if you ask me) put out a “dev diary” trailer that provides nuggets of insight into the work of porting the game. It’s worth the two minutes. Also don’t miss our reviews of the PC version and PS5 version!
