Avowed is getting a new update and a new platform.

Obsidian Entertainment’s fantasy action RPG was released for Xbox consoles and PC on February 18th, 2025. One year later, on February 17th, the game will drop on Sony’s flagship console. At the same time, a free “Anniversary Update” patch is coming to all platforms on the same day.

Developer Obsidian, along with publisher Xbox Game Studio, made the announcement alongside a developer interview video, spotlighting the addition of New Game+ features. You can see that interview directly below.

Anniversary Update Features

  • New Game+ mode
  • Three new playable races – Aumaua, Dwarves, and Orlan
  • Photo mode
  • New weapon types

The update will be free for all players who currently own the game on PC and Xbox. It will also be available for those who play through Xbox Game Pass.

Players can pre-order the game through Sony’s PlayStation Store now. Both the base game and a Premium Edition with additional skins, armor, and a digital soundtrack, are available.

Avowed could get a significant boost with the update and a new console player base. If you’re looking to learn more about Avowed, check out RPGFan’s review by Jerry Williams.
