Deltarune Chapter 5 Expected to Release in 2026

Undertale reached its 10-year milestone in 2025, but the game’s expanded universe continues to thrive. Undertale’s spinoff title, Deltarune, has released four chapters to date, including Chapters 3 & 4 in 2025. The next installment, Deltarune: Chapter 5, is planned for a 2026 release.

Creator and developer Toby Fox provided an update on Chapter 5’s development in his recent quarterly winter newsletter. Here is what he shared:

Progress is going excellently!

We have begun the localization process! We extracted the text from the game… 8-4 and I annotated all of the text with notes for the translator. After localization reaches its final stages, we will begin testing with a professional testing team.

We also need to examine how the game operates on consoles. We will start considering that in January.

If I had to give a realistic estimate, I believe that it will take several months to release the game from where we are now.

It feels crazy to say this even though only 6 months ago you guys only had Chapters 1 and 2, but in a few months, much of the team will probably already be focusing their attention on Chapter 6…

Thus far, each Deltarune chapter has had its own distinct gameplay features and storytelling style. Toby Fox remains tight-lipped on any Chapter 5 features, characters, or story. There are no official screenshots or trailers that showcase any gameplay footage. Given his previous successes, it’s hard to imagine that this next installment won’t be another remarkable addition to the franchise.
